Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow...
Monday 03-30-2009 8:14pm ET
If there's one thing I'm a closet fanatic about, it's women's hairstyles. When I go to a beauty appointment every six weeks with my associate stylist, Mr. Bobby, I'm all over the tall stack of fashion mags in the waiting area faster than you can say Grecian Formula.
So when I flipped open some rag while inhaling the addictive scent of relaxer and noticed Natalie Maines new wash-n-go do, I had to pass it along. Not because she and I now have the same haircut, but because she looks better with it.
YouTube, SchmooTube! It's there, it's not there, whatever! Was the 'Best Days Of Your Life' Video up on YouTube for like ten minutes, or what? In the interest of salvaging MY Monday, I tracked it down thanks to CMT. Crisis averted.
Darius Rucker's Moment Of Truth
Saturday 03-28-2009 2:50pm ET
Darius Rucker now has two number one country singles under his belt with the success of 'It Won't Be Like This For Long'. We here at WMZQ, making use of the vast tools and resources available to us, have long sought to determine exactly what it is about Darius that allowed him to make the difficult - if not impossible - transition between musical genres when so many others have tried... and failed miserably.
Combing through our vast archives, we unearthed a piece of film that may very well pinpoint the exact moment where Darius found his true calling. It's not rare studio footage, or a recording from an old High School talent show, but rather... a fast food commercial. For Burger King, no less.
Darius did this all the way back in 2005 to the tune of the 1920's country smash 'The Big Rock Candy Mountain' and I got hungry within the first ten seconds, which only proves that Darius is not only a successful singer/songwriter, but one heck of a pitchman.
Just another example of why WMZQ.COM is the Encyclopedia Britannica of country music history. Giddy up, and I'll see ya at the drive-thru!

Are Your Taylor Swift Tickets... FAKE?
Wednesday 03-18-2009 8:59pm ET
Taylor Swift’s concerts all over America are selling out in minutes. Which means if you didn’t snatch up yours before they were all gone, you may be considering buying ‘em from re-sellers at jacked-up prices. Well, buyer beware! Police in Washington State have arrested two women in connection with a scam in which counterfeit Taylor Swift tickets were sold! More from MSNBC.com:
“Police believe two women, 21 and 20, were creating fake tickets to Swift’s sold-out May 15 concert at Key Arena in Seattle. The pair listed the bogus tickets on Craigslist, a popular Internet classified advertising site, said Lake Stevens Police Sgt. Julie Jamison.”
”People would arrange face-to-face meetings with the women, purchase the tickets in cash and later learn the tickets were fake, Jamison said. The fraudulent tickets are nearly identical to the real tickets.”
So how can you prevent falling victim to fake ticket scams?
Require that the seller show you: 1. Proof of purchase (receipt with name + last 4 digits of credit card) 2. The physical credit card that matches 3. Govt issued picture ID that has their name matching the above 2.
...and lastly, double check to make sure those tickets you bought to see Billy Currington aren't really for Bucky Covington. I've made that mistake more than once.

It's Kinda Like A Magic 8 Ball...
Wednesday 03-11-2009 9:40pm ET
...except a Magic 8 Ball might actually answer your question in a manner that could at least be perceived as helpful. No, Larry The Cable Guy's'Magic 6 Pack' is neither a life coach, nor a new video to help fellas tighten up those pesky abs. What it it DOES do is offer a little infusion of Larry just when you need 'em the most. So take a breather from doing those taxes or answering your zillion emails at work and ask Larry a question, any question. As long as it's YES or NO, Larry won't disappoint. Any more than usual, that is.
