Lady Antebellum were in Nashville this week to promote the lead single from their upcoming album. Only a handful of industry folks got the first listen of the new track and were sworn to secrecy until this Tuesday at 2 p.m. CT to announce the title of the song.
But while they’re staying mum on the details, Lady A did reveal that the track was almost a Miranda Lambert hit. The group first heard the song last summer and wanted it -- bad -- for their new album, but Miranda already had it on hold for her next project.
Lady Antebellum talk about getting the track from Miranda Lambert.
“[Charles Kelley] She’s not cutting for awhile. She goes, ‘Lady A really wants this, I’m going to let them have it.’ And now it’s our first single. [Dave Haywood] But when we first heard it, what we loved about it was the attitude. And so we thought it was such a fun energetic, a little swagger if you will. [Hillary Scott] Oh! I like that word. [Dave] Thank you.”
The song is from their fourth studio album, which is due in the spring before Hillary Scott has her first child with husband Chris Tyrell. The baby is due in July.
Hillary Scott talks about how she broke the news that she was pregnant.
“We found out the day before Thanksgiving. And honestly a lot of people have different opinions on how they want to tell their family and their friends and in this case the world. We have faith that this baby is going to be healthy and beautiful and perfect and so let’s just kind of let everybody in on our excitement.”
