Musicians & Politicians Unite for GRAMMYs on the Hill

The stars aligned as musicians and politicians united in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, April 5 for The Recording Academy's 2017 Grammys on the Hill awards.

Keith Urban, a 4-time Grammy winner, was the night's honoree as the recipient of the Recording Artists' Coalition Award, which recognizes artists for their musical dedication to the community. Previous Recording Artists' Coalition Award winners include the Zac Brown Band, Alicia Keys, Lady Antebellum, Jennifer Hudson and John Mayer.

In addition to Urban being present at this year's ceremony, fellow country superstar Martina McBride acted as the Master of Ceremonies and the night included performances by Wynonna (joined by Nancy Pelosi (D) and other members of Congress equipped with maracas and cowbells ), John Popper of Blues Traveller and a presentation by Jonathan Wolff, the composer behind Seinfeld. Senators. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Tom Udall (D-New Mexico) were also recognized with the Grammy on the Hill award for their support of music education and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Aly Jacobs, midday host for D.C.'s 98.7 WMZQ, was on the red carpet talking to the featured artists and those present for the event! She got the inside scoop on whether Keith Urban would consider doing a duet with wife, Nicole Kidman, and got to try on Rick Nielsen (of Cheap Trick)'s blinged out bracelet. To show off all of the behind-the-scenes fun, she also took @wmzqcountry Snapchat followers on her red carpet adventures! From the Uber ride to the venue to Urban rocking out with Popper playing the harmonica, you were a part of the action!

The night was a coming-together of all musical genres and truly celebrated the power of music.
